This started life as a doodle, then morphed into a bit of practise for limited-colour shading, and then ended up being a full-blown work. The fur is done with a completely monochrome palette. I used a different technique for the nose and eyes too, which turned out better than expected.
I'm very fond of this little man, he's a real classically marked Border Collie, my favourite type. He's got my almost-trademark ticking too on his muzzle!
I did use a couple of photo references in bits of this pic, mainly for the ears, but since I took the photos myself I'm not going to bother linking them. Thank you to the very lush Floss for having such floofy ears.
