Artist's Comments

FCI Group 5 Sections 1, 2 and 3 (Nordic Sled Dogs, Nordic Hunting Dogs, Nordic Herders/Watchdogs), although I missed out a few as they aren't accepted breeds on FP.

All in a stacked pose, all looking left -- I wasn't interested in experimenting with poses and lighting etc with this one. All also done in a very similar style with some variations. (Style did not work for the Samoyed or American Eskimo Dog, they're too white and floofy).

Tried to work on a few 3-Quarter view heads, some worked and some really didn't! (That damn American Eskimo Dog again). That's about the extent of the "pushing the boundaries" lark, I was really aiming to just produce quality breed standard examples for the Image Bank.

Full view recommended, but this is a large file!

(My favourite is the Canadian Eskimo Dog, closely followed by the Finnish Spitz and F.Lapphund).

Thank you - I am toying with the idea of doing another of the FCI groups, I just haven't decided which one yet!
:iconraixly:
Yay! :: If you try with 7 I'll definitely check it out

I would love for you to do the herding group.

These are beautiful. I should start doing IB pictures again

Showing Australian shepherds is a way of life and it's ewe so great! ^_^

Ooh, so you're the artist of the new Lundy in the IB. I was very pleased to see another image I liked for them. With all my breeds being rarer ones, I don't see nice new images pop up all that often. Thanks. :D

They are very nice, great job! :D
A tip, tanpoint dogs don't usually have tan on top of their muzzle (thinking mainly of the lapponian herder), only the sides/underside. When they have more tan than that, it is often considered a fault if it appears, except in some breeds that allow it. Other dogs do have "full" tan faces but then they are usually genetically sable or saddled tan :)
:iconkayanem:
Thank you! I admit I do tend to stretch the tan points because I find them very difficult to add to solid colour dogs and maintain a aesthetically balanced look. On white marked dogs it's easier! Will note for future reference however. :D

The Lapponian is the only tanpoint, incidentally; the Finnish Lapphund was intended as a very dark sable.

You forgot the Icelandic sheepdog!! D:

Very nice dogs though!
